Never drink and deal! Ever! Perhaps the is nothing more enjoyable than meeting with a couple of buddies, lighting up a Cohiba and topping it off with a glass of Glenlivet, neat. Great... just don't play poker for money... Unless you plan to lose. The surprising thing is that many people make it a part of their playing style to sit down at a poker table with a drink, and it affects their judgement. Simply put, you are a much weaker player under the influence than you are sober. Enjoy a drink or two, but wait until after you play poker. And always look for the player at the table who is drinking, and analyze his or her play, they will become more predictable, and are susceptible to going on tilt. Perhaps the most difficult skill to teach a poker player is DISCIPLINE. It is one of those things that comes naturally to some, and is almost devoid in others. But make no mistake, a winning poker player will display discipline at the poker table. Why? Simply put, a disciplined player will be able to maintain a strategy and not deviate. This helps to maintain an advantage whenever a player gets involved in a hand. A disciplined player may still lose their hand, but over many hands they will make decisions that are less about emotion, and more about logic, and discipline and logic are a formidable combination. Going Tilt? Even the best players go Full Tilt once and a while, chasing a hand in an attempt to recover from an earlier play. Poker is a game of patience and consistency. If you play a bad hand, or simply get hit with a couple of bad beats, don't compound the problem by going on tilt. In military terms it is called falling back to regroup. Relax, and continue to think straight. In the long run, this will help you recover from those inevitable moments at the poker table that see our chip stacks knocked down considerably from bad beats and ill timed aggression.

If you fold easily, players will know to pressure you even if they have a weak hand, to steal the pot. Change your play around, even if it costs you a few hands. A small lose that gives your opponents a false sense of your play can mean huge rewards later in the game
